Katie on her new swing set. We got it from a friend of a friend. (Thanks, Nicole!) She's too little for the "real" swings, but we're going to put her baby swing on. She likes to slide, too. We also got a sandbox turtle from the same lady. Can't wait to see her in it!
These are Katie's flip flops- I couldn't resist paining her toenails. They're a bit messy b/c they're so small, and it's hard to hit moving targets.
This weekend, Katie had a few firsts-she gave her first kiss, got a new carseat, ate several new foods and we think she said "Daddy".
1st kiss-These are the best when you give her a kiss and she gives you one back. It's open-mouthed with a lot of tongue and slobber, but still great.
1st foods- At dinner Sat. night, she put away a lot of food. She ate bits of chicken, corn, cheese and bread. In fact, I'm starting to think she doesn't like spoon feeding b/c she's not doing it herself. Maybe it's too boring to sit there and wait for Mom to shovel in the food. If only I could figure out a way to make the baby food stick to the spoon long enough for her to feed herself! Right now, most of the baby food falls off the spoon by the time she manages to get the spoon to her mouth.
1st word-This afternoon, it sounded an awful lot like she said "Daddy". Then, later on in the day, she said it several more times. I could go blog about my thoughts on this, but I won't. I will say this though, the next time she's up at 5 a.m. on a Saturday, her DADDY will be taking care of her.
We've been having to fight her to get her in and keep her in her rear-facing carseat. We went on and bought a front-facing seat this afternoon. She's 5 lbs. shy of the recommended weight, but fits in the straps snugly. It's like a whole new world! She can see all new things now. It also lets her sit up a bit more, which she likes. I haven't decided which one we'll use tomorrow, but at least we have both now.
Tomorrow, we have a developmental appointment in Dallas. This is the one that's been rescheduled twice now. Yuck. I don't want to go.
Thanks to Grandma for the Blog Book-vol.1. She printed out all of our blog entries from the year. It's pretty amazing to read back through from the beginning. I started the blog on April 1 of last year. A lot has happened since then!
I'm off to the shower, and hopefully I'll get to read my book tonight (if Katie stays down.) More tomorrow!
