Tomorrow is the day for Katie's swallow study. They will give her a bottle with something in it (I think they said barium, but I'm not sure), then take a real-time x-ray to see where the milk goes. They'll be looking to see if she's having trouble swallowing (I don't think she is), and if the milk stays down in her tummy or if it comes back up. We think that part of her airway trouble is being caused, or at least irritated by her reflux problems.
She had a calm day today. The night nurse said she was up for most of the night again, so we're trying to get her days and nights straightened out again. As long as somebody is holding her upright, her spitups aren't as bad. The only trick I've figured out is to burp as soon as she finishes her gavague feedings. (Normally, you only have to burp after bottle feedings, but she manages to swallow a lot of air.)
We should know more about how things are going to progress after tomorrow. She's up to 6 lbs 13 oz! She's almost 4 months old and almost 7 lbs!
