People keep asking who Katie looks like...I don't know yet. The one on the left is my hospital picture and the other one is me at 2 1/2 months. Katie is almost 2 months old.
I was trying to get a picture of her "surprised" expression. It's kind of funny-her mouth is shaped like an "O" and her eyes are wide open. The only problem is, before my camera takes a picture, it shines a green light, and the green light always makes her squint. If nothing else, hopefully, this is her last picture with her ET tube in. She always has to have at least one hand sticking out so she can hold on to something...a tube, wire, blanket, finger, her ear....

This is Katie swaddled today. The shirt she has on matches the hat (even though it's a little big still).

Tomorrow is the day! At about noon, they are going to remove Katie's breathing tube again. At midnight tonight, she'll get the first of 4 doses of steroids to try to prevent any swelling after the tube is removed. I'm hoping and praying that the 3rd time is the charm. I really don't want to have to try a 4th time.

She had 2 "firsts" today--1) she got to wear clothes today and 2) today was her first day without her temperature probe stuck to her (which means she's able to keep herself warm with the help of clothes and a blanket! She didn't need her isolette heater turned on all day today. She needs about 8 more ounces to move to an open bed.

Instead of kangarooing, I held her swaddled again today. The nurse today bundled her up loosely, so she could still move, and she liked it much better. If she can't stretch her legs out all the way, she gets MAD. Her face turns red and she cries (although I still haven't heard her cry yet due to that tube). The baby that's across from us cries almost all the time, and I want to hear mine cry, at least so I know she can make some kind of sound.
