There is an actual post below all the pics....
I've now blogged twice this month. Katie is now into a whole new level of things. I mean that literally and figuratively. Literally, she's discovered she can climb......higher and faster. Moving her "step stools" (i.e. chairs, toys, etc.) away doesn't deter her anymore. She'll move them where ever she needs them, and up she goes.
She's also figured out how to open doors. She's been closing doors for awhile now, but when she'd close herself in a room, at least she was contained. Not anymore. Thank goodness she hasn't figured out the deadbolt yet.
We've also entered the "Play with me!" stage. We play aaaallllllllllll day. I'm not complaining; I'm glad I have her to play with and I'm glad she can play, but it would be nice to be able to NOT play for a few minutes. She has a room full of toys, and I think we play with each toy every day.
We are still working on potty training. I'm at a loss. If I could just get her to sit still for 1.5 min, I think she'd have it down. Here's what a typical potty trip is like: she pulls down her pants and diaper, she sits on the seat for 2 seconds, then reaches for the toilet paper, hops up, wipes, flushes and is ready to wash her hands. (The whole process takes under 60 sec.) I put her diaper back on, and she'll wet AS SOON AS IT GETS ON HER REAR! On the up side, she has gone #2 a few times in the potty in the last week. (Just barely made it.....she waits until the last possible second to head for the potty.) We now have a potty chart taped on the wall, and everytime she makes it, she gets a sticker.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to invest in a helmet for Katie, yet. One of her favorite things to do lately is roam (and run) around with her eyes closed. She also loves standing in our rocking recliners and rocking as hard and fast as she can. Bouncing on the bed and couch seems to be fun, too. It's a miracle she hasn't gotten a bruise or knot from some of her crashes.
We've spent a lot of time working on numbers and letters. She can now count to 12 all by herself, and she knows most of the alphabet. Things get a little fuzzy in the middle, but she starts and finishes strong. Of course, she won't do either on command to show people.
I've got some more pics, but Blogger is being difficult and the alignment is doing crazy things, plus I have to get up and take the car back into the shop in the morning. (The new A/C compresser quit cooling today.......) The next time Katie goes down for the night without a fight, I'll blog again!

The other penguin pic was April 27, 2008
